It’s a common dilemma that we’ve all faced; Sell your home and upgrade or pull some equity out and remodel. With the escalating housing market in Portland this is a tough decision to make. Once you’ve made the decision to remodel, the next step is to go out and find a competent and skilled General Contractor. That’s just what our client did. After interviewing countless Contractors and checking multiple references, Kaya was the hands-down choice for this unique addition project in the Mt. Tabor area of Portland.
Our client wanted to create more space in their home, yet maintain the modern and classic style of home they had lived in for years. They were looking for a family room addition, an upstairs office/art studio space and a complete remodel of their back patio area. The planning and development stages revealed a need for a unique set of spiral stairs that would maximize the new useable space of approximately 800 square feet.
Using these hard wood and iron framed spiral stairs as a center point and an anchor to the project, we were able to successfully create a large family room area complete with picture windows and poured concrete polished floors. The stairs were framed beautifully with Glass-Block windows giving the overall addition a great deal of natural light. The upstairs office space and art studio were also a primary beneficiary of this outside light complimented by additional picture windows.
We also created a sliding wood framed back door opens up to a beautiful new backyard patio with carefully manicured stones that punctuated the overall stylish flair of the new addition. Our clients couldn’t have been happier.
