Kaya Construction’s successful building & remodeling experience as one of Portland’s Premier Remodelers sets it apart from all of the other general contractors in the region. It all started in 2000 by Northwest native Greg Martin. Beginning as a laborer during high school, Greg learned construction skills and gained building experience that eventually took him through college where he earned two degrees; one in Political Science and one in Education from the University of Portland. After college, Greg spent two years working in Massachusetts for two non-profit organizations and spent his free time renovating an 1870’s home.
Upon returning to the Northwest, he worked in construction management at a large commercial and residential contractor in Seattle managing multi-million dollar projects. His career took off and he created and managed his own division, secured large contracts with companies such as Puget Sound Energy and managed commercial projects around the metropolitan Seattle area. However, his dream was to start his own company in Portland. When planning to build Kaya Construction into a premier Portland Remodeler, Greg hoped to work with people wanting to enhance or renovate their homes and buildings in a way that also fostered community improvement and development. He left the job in Seattle and moved to Portland, assembled a great crew of experienced and personable craftsmen and founded Kaya Construction. The company’s name was inspired by Greg’s passion for kayaking.
“The satisfaction of helping people realize their project dreams in the spirit of adding value to the community is really what this business comes down to,” says Greg, “and for that reason renovation is the majority of the work we do.” As one of the highest quality Portland Remodelers, Kaya also specializes in Additions, Dormers, Full Remodels, Kitchens, Bathrooms and more…
Today, Kaya prospers with a staff that is highly educated, skilled, gracious and honest. “Kaya strives to be cognizant of the world which we all live, by promoting products which are renewable and sustainable.” Kaya remains authentic and rooted to its beginnings by adhering to these basic principals and beliefs.
